Tuesday December 31, 2002:Since this is the last day of the year 2002 I thought I would grace you all with my last lovely update of the year. This year has been a good one for me. This year I have entered a prestigious status accomplished by the likes of Steve Young, Danny Ainge and Julie from MTV's "The Real World" in becoming a BYU student. Granted I had to shave my goatee and add such words as "Fetch" and "Flip" into my vocab, but the transition has not been too difficult. I also managed to become one of the oldest students to ever live in BYU's dorms. Sure I am a Resident Assistant, but none the less I am a relic around here. Trips I managed to make this year were not many, but what I lacked in quantity, I made up for it in quality. I will never forget my vacation this past February to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty (AKA Hawaii). I think that will be a pretty hard trip to top, not only because it was Hawaii, but because there were like 11 girls and 1 guy....ME!! Other than that it has been a "run of the mill" year, just trying to get into BYU's extremely competitive accounting program. I did get my grades back from this past semester. I got the following: Stats 221 (B+) History 201 (B+) Information Systems 201 (B+) Student Development "RA Class" (A) and Calculus (B+)...I am fighting currently to get that changed to an A-. This puts my GPA back up to 3.78 which is good. I just need to keep it there. May Hall (my dorm) is currently a ghost town. There are only two students on my floor right now and I think that it has the most on any floor in the hall right now. Most of my guys will be coming back this Sunday and my floor will be back to its normal crazy self. Well it is New Years Eve and I am going to go Par-tay with The Vegor so I will SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!!!!
Friday October 18, 2002:Today is Friday and we are in the midst of Homecoming here at BYU. I have not done anything as if yet to illuminate any form of school spirit. Maybe that has something to do with my thought that homecoming is generally reserved for the old Alumni and the young freshmen. Since I am officially the “creepy old guy” that lives in the dorms, I thought it would be best if I just observed. I am however going to the homecoming dance at the Utah State capitol tomorrow with my friend Emily Fishback. I still do not think that Jared, Josh and I know exactly what we are doing tomorrow, but it shall be an adventure. School is going well and I hope to be all caught up on homework by tomorrow. I have a few exams coming up so I better start preparing now. Today I skipped my classes for the first time this semester. I donated plasma today and I ran a little too long, so I missed my classes (Statistics and Calculus). I guess I shouldn't say that I “missed” my classes, because I don't think anyone really "misses" their Calculus or Statistics classes. Needless to say I did not go and I got paid 25 bones and I gave myself a 3-day weekend as well (how nice). I also found out that Jerry’s burgers is sponsoring our basketball team this year, this means that we should get some sweet jerseys and what not. Thank you Jerry’s for the sweet hook up and at the same time providing one of the only tasty hamburgers in town you can buy with a fried egg on top (mmmmmm…fried egg)
Wednesday October 16, 2002:Right now I am sitting in one of my classes and I felt somewhat board so I thought I would update my site. I have been really busy lately between school and my duties as a RA. Even though I have been very busy, I am very happy. Life is really good right now. I am so happy that I took this opportunity to be a RA. Nothing exciting is going on right now. Last night all of us RAs in May Hall went to the Canyon with out Hall Advisor Debi and her husband Steven. It was really fun once we got started. The camp advisor was giving us a hard time because we were not in the proper “picnicking area”. Eventually we found an approve spot and we cooked hotdogs and marshmallows. I am going to Homecoming this weekend with a girl named Emily. We are going with Jared and Josh. It should be good times. I will try to keep you posted with the details as they come. Well I better pay attention to my professor so I am heading out. Later.
Tuesday October 1, 2002:Boy am I tired. I have been busy all week with getting ready for my midterms. I have all my midterms on Thursday and Friday of this week. This is causing me to really “freak out”. Other than that, all I did today was go to school. It was raining today and the temperature has dropped within the past few days. It has felt kind of nice and I am looking forward to fall. Well I have nothing more to say really, so I am going to bed.
Monday September 23, 2002:Well it is the first day of autumn. The leaves are changing, the air is chilled and the smell of cold wet stuff fills the air. I am sorry that my updates have been sporadic and far between. A lot has happened since my last update but I am too lazy to tell you about it, so I am sorry. For the past few weeks I have been focusing on school and my RA responsibilities. I have been getting a lot of homework lately and I feel bombarded sometimes when all my professors conspire to break me by assigning major homework assignments all at the same time. But I will prevail; I will be victorious. I am really tired right now. I think that may have something to do with the fact that I went to sleep at 7:30am this morning and I had to get up at 11:30. I was “hanging out” with Nikki, Jared and CJ until 5:15am and then I had a big homework assignment to do that was due at one of my classes today. So I was not able to got to bed until the sun came up (which if any of you have experienced this before, you know how bad that SUCKS!!!!) Any who, I am chillin with my gangsta homies in da house of May and I am getting silly because of my tiredness. So before I embarrass myself anymore I will say adieu!
Wednesday September 4, 2002:Today was my first official day of classes. Yesterday was just my labs and my R.A. class (which is really not a class). Today I had my Information Systems class, Statistics and my Calculus class. When I came home I finished all of my homework and then went to dinner with Josh at the Cannon center. After dinner I went to my floor because it was open house and I had to make sure no freshmen were “sucking face” and what not. In the evening Jared and I went to CJ, Barbara and Nikki’s hall and I chilled there until midnight. My scab on my knee cut open and bled all over my pants. Luckily Nikki, CJ and Barbara were there to bandage me up.
Tuesday September 3, 2002:Today was my first day of school. I have been dreading this day for the past week. It has been so much fun having no scholastic responsibilities. I was really enjoying being lazy. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my lab days so I went to my calculus lab and my RA class. My Stats lab was cancelled for this week so that was extremely nice. After out RA class we meet as hall R.A.’s and went over some stuff with our new Hall advisor Sis. Hall. After the meeting I went to dinner and then came home and started setting up for our Hall orientation in the lobby. During the Hall orientation I had the privilege of taking off my shirt and showing my sexy body to all those in attendance (about 200). It was for this skit that we put on as R.A.s. After that I went for my bishop’s interview which was really good. I then chilled for the rest of the night hanging out with Barbara, Nikki and CJ.
Friday August 30, 2002:Today I pretty much lounged around. I did go to the BYU girl’s soccer game with Jordan, Jared McKenzie, CJ Roy and Nikki. At the half we got bored so Jordan, Jared and I went to play tennis. Jordan is really good and he SPANKED Jared and I. It was a joke. We then went to the dance at Helaman halls and Jordan, Jared and I wore out BYU resident life shirts and our name tags. We did this so nobody would think we were freshmen or that they would think that I was some creepy old guy going to freshmen dances to pick up on 17 and 18 year olds. After that I was pretty tired and I wanted to go to be but a lot of boys on my floor saw that I had Mike Tyson’s punch out for my old school Nintendo so we ended up playing that till the we hours of the morning and Now I am really tired so I am going to bed.
Thursday August 29, 2002:Today I was able to sleep in until 9:30, which felt really nice. Later in the afternoon Jared McKenzie, Josh, Nikki, CJ Roy and I went swimming in the Helaman pool. We played water basketball and Nikki and I took on Jared, Josh and CJ. By the end of the competition I had multiple bruises on my arm. Those guys were really rough on me. We then went to the BYU vs. Syracuse football. BYU won 21-42. It was great. I then had to work in the office for the rest of the night.
Wednesday August 28, 2002:A lot has happened since I last updated this site. For starters, I moved twice. We used to live in building 4 at Branbury. I had to move to building 6 for a week before I could move into the dorms. I had to live out of my suitcase for the entire time, which was difficult. I moved into the dorms on Saturday August 17th. The next week we went through training on how to be effective R.A.s. We went to this place called spring haven up in Hobble Creek canyon. This place was huge and we had a ton of fun up there. However, the training was sometime repetitive and redundant which made a lot of us fall asleep. I was worried about the food and if it was going to be good or not. The food has been fantastic ever since I have been here. In fact I have to be careful not to gain a little too much weight while I am eating here. Right now we are having check-ins and there are a bunch of 18-year-old freshman moving in. It has been fun times. I really am enjoying myself right now. I feel like I am in great health (both physically and spiritually). I have been getting up before 8:30 everyday which is a big accomplishment for me.
Thursday July 11, 2002:Well I was "suppose" to go to work at 7:00 am this morning. But when my alarm was going off I realized, “Hey, Work is for Suckers!” So I quit! Yup, after being employed for a brief 2 days, I quit. I know, I know, some of you may be calling me a slacker right now, well that is ok because I think I am. To try to relieve some monetary burdens currently upon me, I went to donate plasma. They needed some paperwork in order for me to give it. I told they guy behind the counter to “Cram it with Walnuts ugly”. Maybe I will go in sometime next week when I feel more patient. For the rest of the day I just sat around and worked on some of my RA stuff. Well I am signing off so Later Skater!
Wednesday July 10, 2002: Well this afternoon, Kjell and I went to eat at this Chinese restaurant on state street called “The Red House”. They claimed to serve Chinese food there and I was disappointed that they did not serve anything that I would classify as Chinese and they defiantly did not serve anything I would call Food! I then had training at my new job from 3-6. I work for a company that tried to milk money out of poor unsuspecting fools. After work I went to Red Lobster with Vegor and we had the All-You-Can-Eat Crab legs. Vegor and I both managed to throw down 3 pounds each. Afterwards I went to our city league basketball game where we played Mikele Wesley’s Team. We ended up beating them and we were pretty happy about that. Well that is about it for me.
Saturday July 6, 2002:Today I went to see the movie John Q. I kind of liked it. I then came home and went to the Provo Temple. After that I went to the gym and shot some baskets and ran a mile. It was really really hot today. My sunburn from the 4th of July still hurts a bit on my shoulders but it is getting better. I need to get a job or find a hobby or something because I am getting bored out of my skull. Later in the night, Pat and I watched Demolition Man on TV. I have not seen that movie for a long time.
Friday July 5, 2002:Today I did a lot of sleeping in. I went to the gym and then went job hunting. I was so bored that I went to the dollar theater by myself and watched The New Guy. It was the stupidest movie I have seen this summer. That was about it for me today.
Thursday July 4, 2002:Happy 4th of July!!! This morning I woke up around 11am and went to a friend of Marcos house. They had a huge pool and water slide. It was really fun. Za, Jen. Daniel, Michelle, Marco, Alyssa, Jean Carlo, Andy, Holly and a bunch of people ended up showing up. I got sun burned and it hurts pretty bad right now. After that I just chilled around the apartment. I then went up to West Jordan with Alicia to Katrina’s BBQ. It was good grub but I did not know anyone there so I pretty much kept to myself. Then Katrina, Jeff, Dee, John, Kerry, Alicia and I went to the stadium of fire and watched the fireworks. It was good times. That was about it for me.
Wednesday July 3, 2002:I slept forever this morning. I woke up around 4pm. I was super tired. Later in the day I went to my basketball game. It was our first game of our tournament. The power went out during our game and it took a while to get the lights back on. We ended up winning the game. After our game one of the teams that was suppose to play in the game after us did not show up so we scrimmaged the team that did show up. I was exhausted. After the 2nd game I went to Panda Express and grabbed some grub. I then hung out at the apartment and watched Trading Places. Pat and Tricia then came over and watched The Iron Giant. That was about it.
Tuesday July 2, 2002:We got up this morning pretty early. I don't remember because it was just a big blur to me. We spent most of the day on the road. I took advantage of some of that time by sleeping. When I rolled into town I checked my grades on Route Y. I got an A- in my econ class. I was so stoked I went out and bought a new cell phone. This one is pretty sweet. After that I went to the dollar theaters with Alicia. We saw the scorpion King. The movie was horrid. Whoever wrote that piece of hud should be banished from all writing tools. That was pretty much it for me.
Monday July 1, 2002: Well I decided it would be best for me to go back to Provo. I was really torn there. So this morning Kjell, Sarah and I went to Disneyland. I cannot believe that it costs 45 dollars to get in. I didn’t want to go to Disneyland because it is for two kinds of people; Kids and couples. Since I did not fit into either category I did not want to go. But since my choices were go to Disneyland or sit around in Anaheim, knowing no one and not knowing the area, I decided to go to Disneyland. It was pretty fun. It was packed and it was a bit warm, but besides that and Kjell and Sarah’s “passionate expressions” towards each other, it was pretty fun. After Disneyland we headed home. We intended to stay the night in Mesquite, but we were too tired. So we are back at good old Buffalo Bills and we will be taking of really early tomorrow. Well I am really pooped so I am going to bed. Nighty night!
Sunday June 30, 2002: This morning I slept in until 11am (surprise surprise!) And then we went to Danny’s singles ward. There was not that many people there but the ward seemed pretty cool. We only had sacrament meeting because of the Navoo temple dedication. So we went and saw the temple dedication at the stake center. The dedication was pretty sweet. Afterwards we met up with Kjell and Sarah who came down from Fresno. We went to eat at TGI Fridays and met up with Kjells brother, Mark. We then went to the right aid and had some ice cream. It was pretty fantastic. We then came home and then went to the beach. It was good times. We then came home and went to the pool. After that we pretty much just hung around the apartment. I was convinced that I was going to stay here in southern California for the rest of the summer. I wish I could stay so much, but I don’t think it would be that responsible. I changed my mind many times throughout the day. Heck, maybe I will still end up staying.
Saturday June 29, 2002: This morning we slept in until about 11am. We then went to eat breakfast at this omlette house. It was some fantastic omlettes. We then went to see Adam Sandlers new movie Mr. Deeds. It was really good. We then went to a Porche dealership and looked at some sweet 911 Porches. There were so many Porche’s, I swear there was like 57 Porche’s. We then went to Santa Monica’s 3rd street. We looked at all sorts of entertainers in the street. There was this Chinese man who could throw bowls from his feet to on top of his head. It was pretty sweet. We then came home and watched some TV and went to bed.
Friday June 28, 2002: This morning Danny had to work so I had to entertain myself for the day. I slept in until 11am and then I went to the mall down the street. It was a ways away so it was a nice little walk. I bought some flip flops and then went to eat at this hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. The food was really good. After that I came home and showered and waited for Danny to get home. We then went to dinner at wood ranch grill with some of Danny’s friends, John, Taryn and Brian. They were pretty cool. We then went to Johns place and drooled over his dad’s 911 Porche. We then went back to Danny’s place and watched Die Hard 3 with a vengeance. It was edited and we thought it was hilarious every time they said “melon farmer”. We then went to the Single Adults dance. It was super gay. Danny, Brian and I went to a party and Danny and I only stayed for a little while because we were tired. We then came home and went to bed.
Thursday June 27, 2002: This morning Kjell and I woke up at 8:00 so we could go to the complementary breakfast buffet at Buffalo bills. It was pretty good. I was still pretty tired because we went to bed at 4:00am the night before and I cannot handle 4 hours of sleep. So we went back to the hotel room and tried to sleep but we could not do it. Maybe it was because I ate about 6 pounds of bacon, I don’t know. So we left for LA at 10:30 and we arrived in Thousand Oaks (where Danny lives) at about 3:00. We went to In-N-Out and I got a quick bit to eat and then Kjell dropped me off at Danny’s place. Kjell then went to Fresno to stay with his fiancée Sarah. I took a nap at Danny’s place and waited for Danny to get home. While I was sleeping, Danny’s roommate Burton saw me sleeping on the couch and did not know what to think. It was kind of awkward waking up and seeing some guy looking at me suspiciously. When Danny came home he took me for a ride on Decker Road and it was fun. I guess a few months ago he crashed his car on that road and was lucky he didn’t die. He crashed into a railing and there were only 2 railings on the entire road. If he would have crashed anyplace else on that road, he probably would not be here. We went to Neptune’s Net to eat some seafood. The food was really good, but the place was ghetto. We then came home rented Chris Rocks Bigger and Blacker and Bandits. Both flicks were good. We also went to Danny’s pool tonight; it was a very nice pool. Well that about does it for me, I am going to watch some more sportscenter then go to sleep. Smell ya later.
Wednesday June 26, 2002: Well today I slept for a very long time. After I finally crawled out of bed I went to lunch with Vegor and Kjell to Carls Jr. I then came home and played age of empires for a bit. I then went to pick up my last check from Carrabbas. I then went to our basketball game and there were only three of us and we almost forfeited. Just when we were about to forfeit, Za showed up and we played. We lost by 2 points. I think that we were all a little tired. I then came home and packed for my trip to LA with Kjell. Later on that night we took off. I am at the hotel Buffalo Bills at state line right now and I am very tired. I will be going to bed now so goodnight.
Tuesday June 25, 2002: I am back in Provo now. I had to come home early so I could play in our basketball game tomorrow. I left yesterday with Daniel and Michelle. We took a drive up to Duck Creek just outside of Cedar City. It was very beautiful and it was a nice drive. You could tell it was very dry though. Today I hung out with my mom and Matthew while Rachael is at girls camp. We went to eat lunch at burger King. I then went on a date with Alicia. We went to P.F. Changs and went to see Sum of all Fears. It was a good movie. That is about it for today.
Saturday June 22, 2002:Well Today was a great day. Last night we found out that we are going to play in the championship series. We were 2 games away from getting the gold medal. We woke up this morning and had a quick breakfast and then went to our first game at SUU's Centrum building (where SUU's basketball team plays). We beat our team by quite a bit. We then waited 5 hours for our next game, the Championship Gold medal game. We were a little nervouse but anxious to play. Because this was the championship game there was an announcer over the PA system. It was a little bit crazy hearing my name over the PA system everytime I scored a basket or fouled someone. It was a good game. We ended up killing the team. We won the Gold! I could not believe it!! We collected our medals and then we went back to the hotel to get our stuff and then Daniel, Michelle and I went to Vegas. When I got to Vegas I realized I left my laptop at the hotel room. I called my friend Za Parsia and he told me they took it with them back to Provo. That was a relief that it was in safe hands. I spent the rest of the night hanging out with my family.
Wednesday June 21, 2002: Well I said I was tired yesterday, but I was wrong. I could not possibly know what tired was until today. This morning we woke up at 7:30 and went to play our first game. We beat the team pretty good. It was hard to play because I was still stiff from sleeping. After that we came back to the hotel and chilled until our next game at 12:30. We lost that game but we should not have. We did not play that well, but the refs sucked. They called 18 fouls on us in the 2nd half to the other teams 7. We were so ticked. Anyways we then came home and tried to rest some more before our next game. We then went to our next game at 3:30. We killed this team. It was though we had something to say. We ended up beating this team by 29 points. We found out later on in the night that we got into the final four tournament that starts at 11:00am tomorrow. We then went and ate at some Mexican restaurant that was pretty good. We then went back to the hotel and played dominoes. We then went to go see of we made it to the final four and we celebrated a bit and then we thought it was best if we get some rest. So I am sitting here in my bed as tired as I can be. I hope that I can get some better sleep tonight.
Thursday June 20, 2002: I am very tired right now. This morning I drove down to Cedar City for our basketball tournament. Our first game was at 5:00 and we barely won. We went into double overtime and won by 7. It was cool because we played in the stadium SUU’s basketball team plays in. After the game we went to Applebees. We accidentally got on the freeway trying to find the restaurant and did not find an exit for 9 miles. So we had a caravan of 5 cars looking totally lost. It was pretty funny. After dinner, Marco, Alyssa, Za, Jenn and I went to Wal-Mart a goofed around. We then came back to the hotel room and now I am going to bed.
Wednesday June 19, 2002: I am very tired and about to go to bed, so I will make this short. Today I studied all day and took my econ final. I got a 72% on it. My professor told us that he expects the mean to be in the low 60's so this could be a B. If I get a B in the class, I will be happy. If not, I will be re-taking it. I talked to my good friend Nettie and we reminisced on how fantastic Hawaii was (she went in January). Later in the night, Alicia, Vegor and I went to see A Beautiful Mind. That was a good movie except for the fact the dude was a crazy nut. I liked it though. Well I better be heading off to be cause I have to drive to Cedar City tomorrow for our basketball tournament. Hopefully I will update this again soon.
Tuesday June 18, 2002:Sorry about the lack of updates. I think that it is important for me to keep these updates current so I can have some sort of a journal for me. Well I am nearing the end of another semester of school here at BYU. This spring term is only 8 weeks long and it really flew by. I took Economics, Mcom and Isys. I got A's in both Mcom and Isys, but I do not know what i will get in my Econ class. I got a B on my first midterm in the class and I got a C on the second midterm. I am hoping to get at least a B in the class. If I do not, I will be retaking the class in the fall. I will take my final tomorrow. We had a basketball game today and I did horrible. I think I did so poorly because Vegor and I ate some Chinese food at the Lotus Garden earlier in the day. We lost our first game. Not all of our players showed up and so that hurt us. Today I also took my Mcom and Isys finals and got an A on both of them. It is a shame that they are 0 credit classes, otherwise they would help boost my GPA. I bought a book on personal finance and I am excited to get through it. In the news: The big things that are happening now are the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, still have not found her or the assailant. The Kayman fires in Colorado were started by a woman who burned her ex husband’s letter. A suicide bombing in Jerusalem on a bus full of school children kills 19, wounds 50.
Thursday May 9, 2002:It has been a while since I last updated this website so I have a lot of catching up to do. Well currently I am in spring term at BYU and I have three classes I am taking. I am taking Econ 110, Isys 098 (MS Excel class), and Mcom 098 (MS Power point class). The Mcom and Isys class is independent study and I have not done anything with them yet. My economics class is kind of tough, but I like it a lot. Economists think very similarly to accountants but they also think very differently as well. I am currently working at Tucano’s (a Brazilian restaurant) as a buser. I have not worked there yet this summer because they are a bit overstaffed. As soon as an opening opens up, I will be working again. I also am on a basketball team this summer. The team is called “cash money” and I will probably be adding a page about our team. A lot of my good friends are on the team and we are pretty good this year. We had a game on Wednesday and we won 64-32. I had six points in the game. That is all that is currently going on in my life and I will try to keep this “internet journal” somewhat posted. Now as for what happened today “Thursday”; Vegor, Brooke and I went to Cafe Rio and I ate for free. I used my frequent dining card got a free burrito and drink (you can’t beat that). After that I went to school to go to a study group for my econ class. I really like this class. I then hung around and watched my Sacramento Kings beat the Dallas Mavericks in game three of the west semifinals. The Kings won 125-119. The Kings now lead the series 2-1 (best of 7 series). After that ate three tuna fish sandwiches and went on a date with my friend Alicia. We went and watch the Count of Monte Cristo. I had already seen it once before, but it was a good flick and I enjoyed it again. I then came home and Vegor, Pat and I had scripture study. We are trying to do this as often as possible and it is actually kind of cool. Well that is about it and I am tired so I am going to go to bed. Hopefully I will have an update again tomorrow.
Sunday March 3, 2002:Well my picture from Hawaii are now posted on my site. You can either get to them by following the Photo Page link on the left of this site or if you are really lazy you can just click here. Well not a whole lot happened this week. I have just been trying to play catch up in school since I took that week off for my trip to Hawaii. It has been really cold lately. I have really been feeling the cold this past week because my car has been in the shop because it broke down last Sunday on our way home from St. George. I am just glad that it broke down in Provo instead of some hick town in the middle of the state. The car mechanic first thought it was my fuel pump that went out. However he was mistaken. It turned out that it was my distributor. So they did not charge me for the new fuel pump (lucky huh?). So I got a new fuel pump installed for free. Today was Pat's birthday and we had a little get together for him tonight. It was fun to have a lot of friends come over. Well I better be off, I have to do some homework. I hear that it is suppose to get warmer here. I hope so; it is hard to adjust to this bitter cold weather when you had the taste of beautiful Hawaii weather.
Monday February 25, 2002:Aloha everybody!!! I just got back from a lovely trip to Hawaii. There is a reason call Hawaii paradise. It was the best vacation the Wayne Dog has been on yet! We left on Friday Feb 15. Despite some transportation issues, we were off to Las Vegas. In my car I had 3 people (Justin, Sara, and Adam) I did not know too well, but we got to know each other pretty well on the trip. That night I stayed with my folks (although we talked all night, which was fun) while Adam, Sara, and Justin stayed at Sara's house in Boulder City. Early Saturday morning we all headed to LA where in envy I dropped off Adam, Sara, and Justin off at LAX Airport. I then drove down to Oceanside California where I met up with the rest of the group. In Oceanside we stayed at Condo that was right on the beach. This place rocked. Thanks to Mindy for hooking us up with a place to stay. On Sunday we went to church. I forgot my church cloths so I wore a button up shirt, dirty cargo pants with white tennis shoes to church. I felt a little out of place. The bishop of the ward I went to was Bishop Robb, my friend Holly Robb Belingheri's father. It is a small world. Later that night we stayed the night in El Segundo, which is right by the airport. Early Monday morning we flew out of LAX to Honolulu, Hawaii. The weather was warm when we arrived so we went to our hotel, unpacked and then went directly to Waikiki beach. It was so much fun. I watched the sun set and then we ate dinner at a place called Dukes which was right on the beach. On Tuesday we hiked Diamond Head which is an extinct volcano. I am closterphobic and I had a rough time traveling through some of the lava holes. We then went to the north shore and stopped to see the Dole pineapple plantation. After that we had some shaved ice at a place called Matsumotos. I had a mango one and it was wicked good. We then went to Waimea beach and chilled for a while. The water was really blue and the sand was warm, It was perfect. That night we went to Laie and drove around for a bit. Wednesday we went to Pearl harbor and saw all of the cool stuff there. I truly gained a deeper respect for our brothers and sisters who serve in the military. We then went to the Swap Meet and I picked up some cool T-Shirts for \\$2.00 a piece. I also picked up some sandals and some other nick nacks. Later that night we met up with our friends Justin, Sara and Adam. We were suppose to go to a bonfire, but instead we just chilled on the beach. That was one of the coolest nights of my life. The air was perfect and you could see so many stars. The moon was out and the waves were large as well. The sound of the waves with the slight wind from the sea made it very delighting. We just talked and some slept till late in the night. Thursday we went back up to Laie and Hiked Laie falls. It was fantastic hike that was a lot better that the diamond head hike. We then came down and ate at the Hukelou Café. It was some great grub there. We then went to th PCC (Polynesian Culture Center). It was so cool to go see all of the different villages and what not. I then went to the Luau which was a great show. After that we all went to the night show which had a performance from each of the islands. Samoa has a chief that did a lot of their stuff and he was really goo (funny too). On Friday we went to Hanauma Bay and went snorkeling. It was amazing, there were so many of these tropical fish who would just swim right up to you. It was cool. There was all this coral to go exploring in as well. After that we went to Dukes to eat their lunch buffet. It was great. I then went surfing. Yup, that’s right, I went surfing bra! It was a totally knarlly and excellent surf, dude! It took me a while, but I got the hang of it. After that it was time to say goodbye and a tear came to my eye as we watched Hawaii, the land I have grown to love so much, slip away. We then drove back from LA to St George where most of our group stopped for a bit and then just kept on traveling back to Provo. Christy, Sara and I stayed until Sunday afternoon and then made our way back to happy valley. After I dropped Christy and Sara off my car died. I don’t know what is wrong with it but I have to get it towed to a car mechanic sometime soon. I am just thankful it did not break down outside of Provo. Well that is my summary of the trip. I left a lot of stuff out, but there is no way I could include everything. It was truly the trip of trips! Mahalo!
Friday February 8, 2002: Well I was suppose to go to Vegas this weekend, but ended up staying in good old Provo. That is too bad because I really wanted to see my family. Today I really did not do too much except study for my New Testament exam. I got a 90%. I need to study harder. After that I went to Vegor's work (Branbury) and we watched the opening ceremonies for the winter Olympics. It was pretty cool. I then came home and cleaned our kitchen. It was looking really disgusting and I think there were some kind of fungi cultures that have not been discovered yet in the bottom of our sink. After that I just studied some more. It is now 1:16 am and I am going to go to bed.
Wednesday February 6, 2002:Last night after I left the school library, I heard a lot of screaming and cheering. I made my way over the noise and there was a TON of people lining the street that goes down the middle of BYU. I forgot that today was the running of the winter Olympics torch. So "I saw the flame" and it looked like it was till burning. I then tried to get home, but traffic was horrible. I got trapped in an intersection because the flame was coming through again. I was stuck for over an hour. So I got to see the flame twice (big whoop!). Anyway I finally made my way home, despite the mass of Olympic patriots clogging the streets. As for today, well today has been a pretty busy day. I took my accounting test this morning, this test scared me. I was worried going into the test and would have settled for a B or better. However after I took the test I could have sworn I aced it. I thought for sure I got a 100% on the test I was sure I knew everything. Well I got a check of reality when I finally got my score. It was a 94%. I guess that is good, but I thought I did better. After that it was off to work. Today I told my boss Kim that I was not going to be able to work at Convergys anymore. I enjoyed working there, but it is just too hard with school to keep my scholarship. So I am going to focus on school for the time being and hopefully salvage a GPA worth of renewing my scholarship. Now as for the summer, who knows, Convergys told me they might want me to come back, I dunno. Of course after work I went back to school to attend my science class. Before class I ran into my friend Christy White, and we got each other all excited for our trip to Hawaii in less than 2 weeks. I cannot tell you how bad I want to get out of this freezing weather. Well now it is 11:00pm and I just spent 3 hours trying to catch up on my Calculus and now I am heading into the bitter cold to find my way home. Wish me luck!
Tuesday February 5, 2002:I think that four months is some sort of record for the slackery I have been exhibiting in not posting to my site. So for all of you Wayne-Dog followers, I apologize! Not a whole lot is going on in my life...in fact It seems kind of boring. I am getting my fanny kicked with some of my classes I am taking at BYU (mainly Accounting and Calculus). In contrast, I am planning on going to Hawaii in two weeks, I am stoked to get out of this frozen tundra we call Utah! I am also planning on going to Las Vegas this weekend with some friends, although I do not know if Calculus is going to permit me to take on such a venture. It would be nice to see the family though. Other than that my life consists of school, work, school and then more school. Because my school and work schedule take up so much of my day, I really have no social life. I guess that is good because I can really focus on getting stuff done for school. Well hopefully it will not be 4 months until I update this site again, until then Hasta La Pasta!
